5Wow. Beats more expensive brands hand down!  Feb 13, 2011 By Linda
I have been looking for an airbrush for detail work, after not being able to get the level of detail I wanted from my expensive jap airbush. I have an older Badger that is my workhorse so I knew they made decent dependable brushes (in spite of what some "airbrush snobs" will tell you!). When I saw this brush had a 0.21mm tip (compared to my Iwata's 0.3mm tip), and it was less than half what I paid for the Iwata, I figured it was worth a shot.

Initially I was impressed with the packaging and the weighty feel of this brush. Head-to-head against the Iwata, this brush wins hands down. Smoother trigger action, finer atomization and much finer dots. My jaw is still on the floor that a brush of this quality is so reasonably priced.

Be warned the needle is *VERY* delicate. Just the process of re-inserting the needle through the trigger caused a slight hook on it. Nothing unfixable, but in the future I will remove the tip and regulator and insert the needle backwards from the front, something I've never done before (and buy a spare needle!)

If you're looking for an airbrush for serious detail work and don't want to spend a fortune the Velocity is an excellent choice. I'm so impressed with this brush I am considering the Rage as a replacement to my old Badger :)

5Super smooth, super easy  Apr 12, 2011 By Kirk "synchro"
This airbrush is a joy to use for the most part. You know when you pick something up and it has that heft, that feel that is just right? This airbrush has that. the action is smooth, the spray is really nice. Cleaning is pretty simple too. Getting it apart is dead simple.

My only beef, and this is SUPER nitpicky, is with the tiny regulator tip. The first time I took the airbrush apart to clean it, I forgot about it and it popped off and like in a movie in slow motion went down the drain of the sink I was next to. Fortunately Amazon carries this and other parts, so I was back in business quick. I will not knock the brush for my loosing a part, but it was still annoying it came off so easy.

For cleaning I HIGHLY recommend picking up a simple ultrasonic cleaner off amazon. I got one for $35 and it is priceless. I wipe out the cup, run a little cleaner through the brush, pull it apart, wipe off the needle and then pop all of it into the ultrasonic cleaner for 3 minutes. You can literally watch all of the paint come out in clouds. It looks new afterwards. No scrub brushes, no chunks left behind, no buildup. It is easy enough to do that I do it after each use. This is true for any airbrush, not just this one. Yes $35 is expensive, but when you put it in perspective of time, care, and quality of the output of your work, it is worth it.

5Awesome  Feb 16, 2011 By Spazticchild69
Te badger velOcity is straight up amazing. It is so comfortable in my hands i can use it all day. Got just enough wieght to keep me from feeling like im moving too fast. Super responsive when airbrushing. All u gotta do is nudge the trigger and u can pull the finest lines. Made a pen mark on paper, then did three lines with autoair paints reduced 25%, velocity lines were 1/3 rd the thickness of ball point pen mark.

5Can't go wrong  Nov 09, 2010 By Jack of All
I was looking for a cheap airbrush that could handle heavy use and get fine lines as well. I found it in this airbrush.

It gets the job done just as well as much more expensive models. I was so close to buying an Iwata hp-c after trying one that a buddy of mine has and I have to say I'm glad i got this one instead. It came a whole lot cheaper, works just as well, and parts are inexpensive ($7-$11 for replacement needle) and easy to come by. The trigger action is smooth as butter, the needle stop is very precise and can achieve very fine lines.

Just one con...the cup cap... is made of plastic and indents a bit too far into the cup while looking out of place on a dark brown anodized brush. Have had a few times where I filled the cup with too much paint and had it squirt out when closing the cap. Cleaning a metal cap is much easier as well. Apparently a shorter matching metal cap (R-081M)is made and comes with these brushes; guess I got some older stock. Metal cap is $5-$8 online if you're so inclined.

If you want to see a detailed video review of the brush being stripped down youtube's got one.

5Badger Airbrush  Jan 21, 2012 By L. Burton
I have been looking for a nice airbrush for detail work for a while, mainly for figure models, but will use for other small craft projects. Heard a lot of good things about the Badger Renegade Velocity so started looking into it and found it here for a much better price then other sites. When tried it out and knew that even if I had paid more it still would of been worth it because this is one of the nicest airbrushes I've ever used. I'd highly recommend this airbrush to anyone interested in small detail work, it's everything described, but it also really well made.
