Fun Hobby May 05, 2009
By Old and slow Better made then my old pans , with deeper ridges. If you want to know where to go in your state, contact your local BLM and they can help you out with maps and forms if you want to stake a claim. Or where to go for public panning. I also bought some more small bottles for the dust.

Not for serious gold hunters, or even serious hobbyists. May 28, 2011
By Ira Savatgy

These gold pans are alright to use. However, the Large pan has room for one more notch (i do not know why they did not add another one) And
another problem, is that the little pans notches are still big, so there is almost no difference in using the smaller one compared to the big one. In the booklet, it says to use the big one first, and than use the little one for the sands and pebbles, But the notches are almost the same size. If they were to get 5 stars out of me, i would have put like 10 mini notches in the small pan. (make it actually worth it to switch pans) Because of this i Never use the the small pan when i am panning alone. Also the big pan is much better for sorting out gold specs from Black concentrates anyways!
I use the gold sucker whenever i go panning, But when trying to get the concentrates out of the bottle, the grits and gold specs always get stuck in between the lid and the squirter.
The tweezers, are just cheap crap made in some Asian country. The ends of the tweezers don't even meet together when closed, and the ends are too big to pick anything smaller than what you could pick up with your fingers.
The Vials are alight. just plastic vials. They do work well for storing gold.
The durability of the pans is great! you can throw em like Frisbees, drop em, do anything (i wouldn't drive over them)
UPDATE: The classifier is almost useless because the holes are so big. Yes, it gets rid of the boulders, but if not used there is almost no difference. I ended up putting a screen in mine to make it worth while to sort out the bigger pebbles. However, if you are searching for nuggets with a metal detector, then this kit would work well for finding larger pieces of gold.
These pans use the same technology that gold pans did 100 years ago, and they seem to have just thrown in the little pan to make the set look bigger and better. when it literally does nothing special.
Good set of pans for the beginner user that is just going out for fun. But if you are a serious gold hunter, these pans are not meant for you.

Everything needed to start. Apr 29, 2011
By Dan Can The classifier is 1/2", (the holes are 1/2") which is a little large for the first timer, tho all around is much better than no classifier at all! The pans are of the highest quality with 90
degree angles which make for easy gold trapping. Overall am more than satisfied with the purchase tho I did buy a 1/4" classifier as I also sluice.

THIS IS NOT A TOY! Nov 22, 2009
By P. Burkhard This "GOLD PAN" and "CLASSIFIER" kit is not a toy. These a professional grade items, that should not be classified as toys by Amazon. This is the best Gold Pan I have ever used. All heavy material stays in the pan, even after vigorous rapid sample panning action. The Chinese invented this deep trap design, it is simply Ingenious.
How much fun is this toy? 5 stars selected
How would you rate this toy's educational value? 5 stars selected
How durable is this toy? 5 stars selected
How do you rate this toy overall? 5 stars selected
These are "tools" that could make you serious money if you know where to look.
NOT TOY'S.

So excited to use it! Mar 25, 2010
By Russell E. Coons Its awesome! Excpet the book isn't a big help to find out where to go, e.i. what to look for in a river or hill side etc... I wish is said something like. "A good place to look for gold would be on a rivers bend in the slow moving water", or "look around Igneous rocks." Stuff like that. But I'm excited either way to use this :D.
