5Not a toy! It's a hobby!  Apr 21, 2010 By rjv
Got this plane for my 13 year old two years ago for Christmas. He has shown an interest in RC planes and we selected the SkyFly 2 after some research. No, it is not a toy! It does not come out of the box and fly like a kite. It takes practice, patience, and a lot of glue and package tape until you learn. We have had many crashes in the first year and were always able to tape or glue it back together. After the first month or so he became quite skilled at it. Once you learn this plane flies like an eagle!. A year later, it is still flying and we look forward to going to the field together whenever we can. He flies, I crash, but we have fun. Now 14 and on to 4 channel Piper Cubs

Two most important things: Do not try to fly in winds above 5 - 7 mph, and if you are really interested get a flight simulator for your computer that has the actual model planes on so you can get the feel of how they handle.

1Disappointed  Aug 17, 2009 By J. Gilbert
Bought this for my son's birthday. Battery indicator said the plane battery was charged; new batteries in the remote -- we have yet to get the motor to turn on. Major disappointment. We're sending the battery charger to the company under warranty. Hopefully that will work. Still...

1True let down  Feb 20, 2011 By Karen Alexander
Don't waste your time with this one!! Went to the hobby store to get a mini Super Cub with Anti-Crash technology for my son, his experienced uncle recommended. The owner convinced me the Sky Fly was better and easier. Got it home and the battery failed. Took it back. They took a battery out of another box. That battery failed. Plane is not forgiving and flies to fast to learn. Never had it in the air for over 30 seconds. Now there's no lift at all in the plane, store owner can't figure it out. Won't climb!! Best nose dives into the dirt we have ever seen when it did fly. Worst experience for my son and refused to fly the plane. I had to drag him to the park to fly it and he won't touch it. His uncle said this was an intermediate to advance plane. He had a difficult time flying. This must be flown in NO wind. What a waste for a beginner! No what a waste period. Truly this is a disappointing plane as it ruined a father & son experience and introduction into a new hobby. We went back and bought a mini Super Cub (ACT)and my son can't wait to fly it.

5Great beginner plane  May 11, 2010 By Shawn Minnick
I had a lot of experience with the Skyfly 1 and wanted to get a new plane. I didn't want anything more advanced so I figured I get this one. Like the original, it's great. It takes a lot of abuse and still flies. It's easy to control and really fun in moderate winds. We even flown the original successfully in crazy monsoons in Arizona, got it wet, just dried it off and still worked. I was just flying it today and had some really bad crashes, I like to get crazy. Ripped the wings in 3 pieces just some duck tape and extra broken tail pieces for braces and its ready to fly again. even ripped all the wheels off, but didn't damage the elevator, the rudder or any of the electrical components. The rear mounted prop is great for hard landings. I like the new control rods opposed to the old string and rubber band controls, it seems to be very responsive. I seem to have some trouble to get the motor to run after i replace the battery, I have to turn the motor on while i'm running the controls at the same time to activate the motor, but its not too bad a problem, once its running it keeps running and seems to have a little more power than the SF1 and its a little lighter too. Overall if you want a good beginner plane or just something cheap to have with, I recommend this to everyone.

1Ditto on the other 1 Star review. HUGE Disappointment  Apr 06, 2010 By D. Fleming "D Fleming"
Like the other reviewer I bought this as en entry level first plane for my sons birthday in October 2009. Battery charger was broken right out of the box. Sent it back and they sent me back the same plane with a new charger. Charged it up. Same problem. Sent unit back again. This time they replaced it with a brand new unit. Opened the box and a piece of the plastic wing was already torn. I determined that it wouldn't affect the performance so I finished putting it together. Get out on the field, crank up the engine and the propeller just falls off the body of the plane. It didn't just unscrew, the plactis actually broke to the point where the plane was unusable. So 6 months and three planes later I have yet to get the plane of the ground even an inch. I finally received notice that they are going to give me my money back because I bascially told them I had no interest in another plane of this model.
