Great little, workable toy Oct 27, 2007
By David L. Willis This truck unit comes with several pieces of equipment that should keep a fire-fighting kid happy. It includes a hose, a removable saw and a trailer that can be detached. It reminds me more of a firefighting unit you might see in a rural area, rather than a city. If your child is small, he or she may have trouble attaching some of the small pieces to the trailer, or placing them in the hands of the fireman that comes with this. Overall, it's a great little set.
But beware this unit will probably make your kid want more fire units. The new fire station out this year from Lego is a dandy, and this little unit will only add to the fun.

Great starter set May 18, 2010
By Justin Gaines My son is a big fan of fire and rescue vehicles, so we decided to give the LEGO City Off Road Fire Rescue set a try as his first "big kid" LEGO set. The set has 130 pieces and when completed includes a truck, trailer, a fully-equipped firefighter and related gear.
Complexity: My son is only 4, so I was the one building this set. The box says it's for ages 5-10 so I'm relieved I was able to complete it without much trouble! My son was able to assemble simple elements like the wheels and some of the decorative external pieces. He also had a blast assembling the firefighter and changing out its various tools and equipment.
Playability: Once assembled, this is a pretty durable vehicle. I love the folding tailgates, fire hose that spools in and out (manually) and the storage bins on the trailer. It survived a pretty thorough "product testing" by my son. My only complaint is that unlike most LEGO vehicles I've encountered, this truck doesn't have doors that open. If you want to get the firefighter in and out of the truck, you have to remove the roof, which often means dislodging some of the pieces the roof is attached to, if not the whole windshield section. I may scour through my old LEGO collection (what's left of it) to see if there are movable doors I can use here.
Overall I was quite pleased with this introductory set, as was my son. Hopefully this will be the first of many LEGO sets we build together.

Ageless Toys Dec 27, 2011
By JJohnson My 12yr old daughter asked for a few lego mini sets for Christmas, she was so excited and just focused on building and creating
. Watching her, reminded me of my childhood and growing up with essentially the same exact toys. Legos surrounded me many a Christmas morning. Thank you for the ageless smiles.
