Bugs won't even dare enter your house with the Mantis on duty! While the R/C Mantis is one of the wildest R/C flying machines ever offered, it is also a very sophisticated hobby-grade item incorporating Spectra-Link Optic-Control for guidance. The Mantis employs both electric and mechanical gyroscopic stabilization for rock-steady hovering. The tail-rotor is controlled by a micro motor for true yaw-axis stability and control. Moves forward and turns left and right. The Mantis is powered by the latest battery technology, Lithium. Set includes the Mantis RC Insect, built-in lithium battery, transmitter with integrated quick charger and full instruction manual. Requires six "AA" batteries, not included. Measures approximately 10".

4Fun idea.  Dec 26, 2010 By JLL "jamesndir"
My middle son loves bugs so this was a natural gift for him. It is pretty cool despite the fact it is more of a flying cricket than a praying mantis. It flies reasonably well and is fairly easy to control. Like 99% of toys you buy today it does not seem really sturdy. The core is styrofoam and the connection to the charger is the tiny plastic tip with two thin metal poles that can bend easily. The back rotary blades fall off consistently but you can put it back on and they give you an extra one in the box. A big plus is the charging is quick and lasts good time (At least so far!). Overall, cool flying cricket like bug. My son controlled it fairly easily (not as good as the S107 metal helicopter which absolutely is the best out there to fly and made of metal so much more durable) but still this is fun and gets good play time. I doubt this will last a very long as it seems fragile but so few toys are made that well especially for this price so I would recommend it for your bug lover.
