1Unfit for the Purpose  Aug 14, 2010 By Family Man 88
I purchased this product a couple of days ago. This product is so woeful in so many ways, that I have felt obliged to inform Amazon they should not be selling it. Out of the box, the machine would not fly, due to the fact that it rotated at a rapid rate to the left.

The instruction manual, which qualifies as the worst example of Chinglish I have ever seen (and I lived in Hong Kong for 15 years) gave guidance as to how to stop this rotation, by adjusting a potentiometer. It did not tell you, however, where to find the potentiometer. Two hours on the web later I have learned that:

1.This model does not have the potentiometer.
2.Sellers of this model in Malaysia say that ALL S-009's exhibit this trait after five hours of so of flying.
3.At least a dozen posts say that ALL examples of this model are junk.

I have returned it.

1Piece of junk!  Dec 30, 2010 By romans1014
This helicopter is a piece of junk! The description says it is "easy and stable flight." That just is not true. The helicopter is NOT stable. It spins and spins and spins. Once the trim is adjusted, you get about 10 seconds of stable flight before the helicopter begins to spin in the opposite direction! Initially, I thought this was possibly due to over-correction. After recharging it, I tried again, this time adjusting the trim very slowly - one click at a time. Bad idea! The helicopter started spinning out of control and crashed into the wall at which point one of the main rotors broke. On top of that, the battery does not perform as stated. A 2 hour charge equals about 5 minutes of flight time. After 5 minutes, the helicopter does not have enough power to get off the ground.

I made this purchase because a friend got a Helizone Firebird. It has a lightweight metal frame, but everything else is plastic, including the rotors. In a weeks time, we probably crashed it close to 200 times - some were very hard crashes. After all of that, the Firebird had a few minor dings in the rotors and the skids were a little bent, but it still flew completely stable. I got the Syma Apache because it looked bad a$$ and thought it would be more durable being from Syma instead of Helizone. Boy was I wrong and I have since submitted a return request.

Bottom line is, DO NOT BUY THIS HELICOPTER!

1OH WHAT A RIP-OFF  Sep 22, 2010 By Laura
My son spent 2 months saving his money to buy this. It broke within a week. I wrote the company an email, and they never responded. I couldn't get a response much less a refund! My son was upset, and I am too! Don't buy this toy, it doesn't last as long as the batteries do.

1SYMA Apache S009  Oct 06, 2010 By J. P. Condalor
Bought mine a week ago, pretty stable and I enjoy flying it. However the lower blade just suddenly stops working today, took it apart, cleaned it but still did not fix the problem, there are 2 "pencil lead like" about 1cm that fell for which I don't know where it came from. Google it, looks like its a common problem with this toy. The toy really looks great to me. I'm a newbie and this one is easy to fly.....guess I should have research more info online before I made my purchase.

5good but  Jan 03, 2011 By yjzmd "yz"
its good, but I don't recommend it for in doors, unless you have a 30 foot ceiling and an in door basketball court, its really should be outdoors, came out of the box charge up, no difficulties setting up, easy and fun.
