5The best educational toy you will ever find for preschooler.  Jan 05, 2010 By Isabella E. Bertelli
As taken directly from the Lego Education site:"The Tech Machines Set enables students to take their first steps into science and technology! Now, my husband loves playing and building with this set just as much as my son who received this from his Grandma and Nonno for his Birthday. I love the educational side of the toy and yes this was originally designed for a class, but my son likes to build and keep building ,not rip something apart to make something else. There are so many different pieces that the building options are only limited by your child's imagination. The fine motor refinement and hand/eye reinforement are additional benifits of the toy. The set does some with a teacher's pack that any parent can follow for scaffolding and enrichment.

You won't find these sets in your local discount store, as they are prices out of that market, but Amazon, math and science stores, and lego education direclty all sell it. You may think at first glance that this set is expensive, but if you look at the quantity of the parts (duplo sized) and the fact that this is an educational set designed to enhance math and science skills, you will find this offers the most bang for the buck. Don't let the fact that kids are building machines and vehicles fool you into thinking this is a boy's toy. My son's little girl friends have just as much fun and can't wait till playdates again.

I will say there are no tiny screws to be concerned with. The screws are built into the pieces so the screwdrivers are really for locking the pieces together. This is great because anyone who has ever played with regular legos knows that they fall apart with much play. These will NOT... Super, super, super, and I can't wait till another year or two to add on some begining physics and engineering sets from Lego Education.
